‘The Glimmer Tree Project’ - community creativity initiative with Diane Zaharis
The Glimmer Tree Project
Is a community creativity initiative and installation based on concepts of positive psychology. In positive psychology, anything that triggers a moment of joy, peace, or safety is called a ‘glimmer’.
Who is invited?
The project will invite young people, older people with limited creative experience, youth LGBTIQIA + groups, and people living with disabilities to engage in creative mindfulness practices.
What will you create?
The community is invited to create a small ceramic object to wear that is a tangible reminder of their glimmers. Participants will also make a ceramic ‘glimmer leaf’ to contribute to ‘The Glimmer Tree’,
What is the Glimmer Tree?
The Glimmer Tree will ‘grow’ colourful leaves throughout the residency. The tree will be made from reclaimed branches and sit within a pot made during the residency. The Glimmer Tree will then be exhibited at Wollongong Art Gallery in August.
